Who this is for
This page is for any business whose diary is its revenue: physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors, dental and aesthetic clinics, massage and beauty therapists, tutors and music teachers, driving instructors, dog trainers, photographers, mobile mechanics, cleaners and other local services that work by appointment. If you have a website and regular clients — and an empty slot costs you money — this applies to you.
We have separate pages for some appointment-heavy industries, such as beauty salons and pet grooming (see the related pages below). This page covers the common ground.
What an appointment app typically includes
Booking that respects your rules
Clients choose a service, a practitioner and a time. Behind that sit your rules: service durations, buffers between appointments, minimum notice, how far ahead people can book, and who is qualified to do what. If you already use booking software, these rules live there and the app reads from it. If you don't, we can build a scheduling backend for you, which takes more work.
Fewer gaps in the diary
Three things tend to help with no-shows and late cancellations:
- Reminders — push reminders for clients who have allowed notifications, alongside email or text reminders from your booking system.
- Easy cancelling and rescheduling — people who can move an appointment in a few taps are more likely to do so than simply not turn up.
- Deposits — collected through a payment provider for services where a missed slot is expensive.
We cannot promise a specific reduction in no-shows, but these are practical, well-established measures.
Rebooking and continuity
Many appointment businesses depend on repeat visits: a course of treatments, weekly lessons, a six-weekly appointment. A "book again" button and a gentle reminder when a follow-up is due make it easier for clients to stay on schedule. Packages and memberships can show how many sessions remain.
Before the first visit
Intake forms, consent forms and preferences can be completed in the app before the appointment. If you collect health information, extra care is needed: this is special category data under UK and EU GDPR, and we will design storage and access with that in mind.
How the free app preview works
We can create a personalised, interactive concept of your booking app from your existing website:
- Share your website address through the request form.
- We review your public content — services, durations and prices where listed, team, opening hours, location and branding.
- We design a concept with a home screen, a service list, a booking flow, an appointment list and a client profile, in your branding.
- A person reviews it before it is sent.
- You receive a private link to open on your phone or desktop. We email you when it is ready.
The preview runs in the browser and is not connected to your diary; bookings are simulated. It is a concept to help you decide whether an app is worthwhile, free and with no obligation.
Process and what affects cost
If you decide to go ahead, we agree the scope and give you a written quote. Production apps are built with React Native, Expo and TypeScript, so one codebase serves iPhone and Android.
Custom apps start from €1,499 (indicative starting price). The main cost drivers for booking apps are:
- Booking system integration or a new backend — the single biggest factor.
- Staff, rooms and locations — more resources mean more complex availability.
- Payments — deposits, prepayment, packages.
- Client accounts — log-in and linking to existing client records.
- Forms and sensitive data — intake forms, consent, health information.
- Notifications — reminders, follow-up prompts, last-minute availability.
- Maintenance — operating system updates and changes to third-party APIs.
Honest limitations
- Your booking provider sets the limits. If it has no API, or a restricted one, some features may not be possible without changing provider or building a backend.
- Notifications require permission. iPhones always ask, and Android 13 and later ask too. Some clients will decline.
- Store approval is Apple's and Google's decision. We build to their guidelines but cannot guarantee approval or timing.
- An app complements, not replaces, your other channels. Some clients will always phone or book on the website.
- Apps need maintenance as operating systems and connected services change.

Frequently asked questions
We already use online booking software. Do we need an app?
Not necessarily. Your booking software may be enough if clients book rarely. An app adds value when clients book regularly, because rebooking becomes one tap, reminders can be pushed, and your brand sits on their home screen instead of a third-party marketplace. Where possible the app connects to the software you already use.
Which booking systems can the app connect to?
Any system that offers a documented API and allows access on your plan. Many do, some only partially. We check what your provider supports before quoting, and explain alternatives if it does not.
Can the app reduce no-shows?
Reminders, easy cancellation and deposits are well-established ways to reduce missed appointments, but we cannot promise a specific result. Push reminders only reach clients who have allowed notifications, so they work best alongside email or text reminders.
What is in the free preview?
An interactive concept in your branding with your real services from your website: a home screen, service list, a booking flow, a client account and reminders. It runs in the browser and bookings are simulated. It is not a finished app.
How much does a booking app cost?
Custom apps start from €1,499 (indicative starting price). Connecting to an existing booking system usually costs less than building your own scheduling backend. Payments, multiple staff or locations, and intake forms add scope. You get a written quote once we agree what to build.
