Who this is for
This page is for hair salons, barbers, beauty salons, nail bars, lash and brow studios, aesthetics clinics and day spas. Your business is built on repeat clients who often have a favourite stylist or therapist, and on appointments that vary a lot in length and preparation. You probably already have a website and some form of online booking. The question is whether a dedicated app would serve your regular clients better.
What a salon app can do
Booking with the right person, for the right length of time
Clients choose a treatment, then a stylist or therapist, then a time. The app accounts for how long each treatment takes, which team members are qualified for it, processing time for colour and any buffer you need between clients. Combination bookings, such as a cut and colour, can be handled as one appointment.
Client profiles and preferences
Every visit adds to a client's history: what was done, by whom and with which products. Your team can keep internal notes, such as colour formulas or skin sensitivities, so the next appointment starts from what worked last time. Clients can update their own details and preferences.
Patch tests, consultations and aftercare
For treatments that need a patch test or consultation, the app can remind the client to book one in advance and prevent the main treatment being booked too early, according to rules you set. After the appointment, it can share aftercare guidance for the treatment received.
Deposits and cancellations
No-shows hurt salons. The app can take a deposit at booking for longer or high-value treatments, display your cancellation policy before confirmation and send reminders before the appointment.
Loyalty, courses and vouchers
Digital stamp cards, treatment courses with a remaining balance and gift vouchers can all live in the app. Rebooking prompts can suggest the next visit at the interval that suits the treatment, such as an infill every few weeks.
Your portfolio
A gallery of your team's work helps clients choose styles and treatments, and gives the app a personal feel that a generic booking page lacks.
How the free personalised preview works for salons
- You send us your website address.
- We review your public content: treatment menu and prices, team, opening hours, location, branding and photos.
- We build an app concept for your salon: booking by treatment and team member, a client profile, a loyalty card and your gallery.
- A person reviews the concept before it is sent.
- You receive a private link to open on your phone or computer.
The preview is a concept, not a working app. Bookings, deposits and reminders are simulated. It is a way to see your salon as an app and share it with your team before deciding anything.
How a project runs and what affects the cost
If you go ahead, we agree the scope with you, then design, build, test and support the store submission. Production apps are built with React Native, Expo and TypeScript, so a single codebase runs on both iPhone and Android.
Custom apps start from €1,499 (indicative starting price). For salons, the cost depends mostly on:
- Booking complexity. Multiple team members, processing times, combination treatments and patch test rules add logic.
- Integration with salon software. Working with an existing booking platform depends on its API and adds integration work.
- Deposits and payments. Payment provider integration, refunds and cancellation rules.
- Client records. Secure accounts, history and internal notes need a backend with proper access control.
- Loyalty and vouchers. Simple stamp cards are quicker than points, tiers or gift vouchers.
- Multiple locations. Different teams, hours and price lists per site.
- Maintenance. Regular updates as iOS, Android and connected services change.
Honest limitations
- Your current software may limit integration. Some salon platforms do not allow third-party apps to book on their system.
- Notifications require opt-in. Reminders only reach clients who allow notifications; email or text reminders are a sensible fallback.
- Store approval is decided by Apple and Google. We design apps with real functionality, but approval is never guaranteed.
- Client notes are personal data. Health-related information such as allergies or skin conditions needs particular care under data protection law. We design with this in mind, but you remain responsible for how your salon collects and uses it.
- Payment fees apply. Deposits go through a payment provider with its own fees.
Is an app right for your salon?
An app works best when most of your clients return regularly, often to the same team member, and when you want to cut no-shows and admin while making rebooking easy. If your current booking platform already meets your needs, an app may add less. The free preview helps you decide with something concrete in front of you.
Frequently asked questions
My salon software already has a booking app. Why would I need my own?
Many salon software platforms offer a shared marketplace app or a generic booking page. A custom app is branded to your salon only, can combine booking with loyalty, aftercare and your portfolio, and keeps clients in your own space rather than alongside competitors. If your current tool already does everything you need, you may not need a custom app.
Can the app use my existing salon booking system?
If your booking system offers an API and your plan allows third-party access, the app can read and write appointments there. If not, the app can use its own booking backend or hand off to your existing booking page while a full integration is evaluated.
Can the app take deposits for no-show protection?
Yes. Deposits and card-on-file payments go through a standard payment provider, because salon services are real-world services. You set the deposit rules and cancellation policy; the app shows them clearly before booking.
Can clients see their colour formula or treatment notes?
You decide. Some notes are best kept internal for staff, while others, such as aftercare advice or products used, can be shared with the client. We design the access rules with you.
What does the free preview include?
An interactive concept in your browser showing your salon's app with your name, branding, treatments and photos from your website. Booking, payments and reminders are simulated. It is not a finished app, but it gives you something concrete to evaluate.
